AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE DIAGRAM BELOW MY SUBJECT KNOWLEDGE DRASTICALLY IMPROVED FROM JANUARY AND THIS IS DUE TO PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE IN THE CLASSROOM.
IN REFLECTION I WOULD ALWAYS LIKE TO IMPROVE MY SUBJECT KNOWLEDGE AND THIS IS WHY I HAVE ALREADY REQUESTED THAT I ATTEND CPD SESSIONS AT MY NEW SCHOOL FOR A-LEVEL AND GCSE SESSIONS.
THE FOLLOWING IS THE PERSONAL STATEMENT THAT I USED TO SECURE MY CURRENT POSITION AT THE CO-OPERATIVE ACADEMY.
In reflection to this statement I feel that I could have mentioned more about myself as a person as this is what ultimately got me the job. I think that when you apply for the kind of position that was offered at this school personal relationships are very important and I feel that I was hired, not only due to my teaching, but due to how well I got on with the other members of staff within the school.
At this stage what aspects of teaching do you find most interesting and rewarding?
At this stage of my teaching career I am most interested in working with difficult students that struggle in mainstream schools. I had the opportunity to do this on a number of occasions and I found this to be hugely rewarding. I found working with these students so rewarding because many of these students do not believe in there own abilities and the moment that they realise that they are actually good at something is fantastic.
As you approach the award of QTS what do you consider to be your main strengths as a teacher?
At this point I would consider my main strengths to be my wide range of subject knowledge and also my ability to deal with difficult students. I feel that my ability to deal with difficult students is due to my age. I feel that I can really relate with many students and they, hopefully, feel as though they can relate to me.
Which aspects of teaching would you value further experience in for the future?
Looking to the future I would relish in the opportunity to work with EAL students as this is something that is very close to me personally. I would like to gain further experience in teaching EAL students to ensure that all of the students I teach are given the same opportunities to succeed.
As you look ahead to your career in teaching, you may be thinking about longer term aspirations and goals. Do you have any though at this stage how you would like to see your career develop?
At this stage I am simply happy to have a job in a school that is perfect for me. The school, The Co-operative Academy, has a very small department and I have found myself entirely responsible for the scheme of works surrounding resistant materials and electronics. I feel excited and nervous for this prospect and I'm vey happy that the school has placed this trust in me and I do not intend to disappoint.
